Goodbye Dry Skin - exederm Giveaway

Written by Erica

All three of my children suffer from eczema. My poor son, Isaiah, has definitely had the worst case. At the age of 18 months, we took him to a dermatologist who was quite shocked at just how bad his eczema was. We ended up having to use steroid creams to get it under control.

As a mom whose children deal with eczema, I know how tough it can be for our precious little ones. It seems to be the worst at night, when they just can't stop itching those little arms and legs. With all of their "itchies", as my son calls them, it is so difficult for them to doze off to sleep.

It can also be challenging to find products that don't trigger flare-ups. Many lotions and creams on the market do a great job at hydrating the skin, but the added chemicals irritate the skin and before you know it, there are dry, red patches everywhere.

The exederm line is the solution for eczema and dermatitis sufferers. Their products use the mildest ingredients possible. Exederm contains no fragrance, no color or dyes, no parabens, no (SLS) Sodium Laureth Sulfate, no Lanolin, no (CAPB) Cocamidopropyl Betaine, no Propylene Glycol, and no phthalates.

In fact, in September 2008, the National Eczema Association honored exederm with the first of 12 separate 'Seal of Acceptance' awards in acknowledgment of their ultra sensitive formulations.

If you or your children suffer from eczema or dermatitis, I recommend checking out exederm. There is also a handy chart on their site that compares the ingredients in leading creams that are used by those with sensitive skin. It really is eye opening to see how many of these creams actually contain many harsh chemicals.

The exederm line offers eczema wash, eczema shampoo, eczema conditioner, eczema lotion, eczema body oil, intensive moisturizer, and flare control cream. There are also products just for little ones. You will find baby eczema lotion, baby eczema cream, baby eczema oil, baby eczema wash and baby eczema shampoo.

I received the baby products as well as the flare control cream to use on my children. Unfortunately the flare control cream didn't put an end to their flare-ups as I had hoped. I still had to use steroid cream on those trouble spots. Again, my kids have pretty severe eczema. I am a big fan of the baby wash and shampoo, because it can be quite difficult to find gentle washes for little ones that are also free of chemicals, dyes and SLS.

The exederm site also has a section that I feel is a great resource for those of us dealing with sensitive skin issues. You can find a listing and detailed explanations of the common irritants found in skincare products. When you are knowledgeable, you will know what to look out for on labels of hypoallergenic and sensitive skin products.

We would like to offer the full exederm baby line (perfect for children) to one lucky reader. To enter please leave a comment below.

The Harlem Globetrotters - Family fun for 84 years!

Written by Stacey

This past weekend my family and I were able to attend one of the most entertaining events I've been to in quite some time — The Harlem Globetrotters!!!

I never had the chance to see the Harlem Globetrotters when I was a kid but, of course, knew who they were from seeing them on other tv shows and was recently cheering for Flight Time and Big Easy on last season's "Amazing Race".

Needless to say, I was more than excited to finally see them in person and to share the experience with my family.

The Harlem Globetrotters have been thrilling audiences for 84 years. EIGHTY-FOUR YEARS!!! They have played for everyone from Presidents to Popes. In 2009 the Globetrotteres even went on tour playing at U.S. military bases in the Middle East.

Regardless of who they are playing for, the heart of the Globetrotters is, and has always been, their fans. That is so evident from the minute you walk into a stadium during one of their games. From pre-game to post-game, every minute is about entertaining their fans. Music, dancing, comedy, pulling kids out on the court during plays — you will be laughing, cheering, and wondering what could possibly happen next!

Yes, the Globetrotters are entertaining but they are also amazing basketball players! Their skills are something I have never seen before! I've seen players dunk a basketball and spin a ball on their finger, but the Harlem Globetrotters take it to a whole new level! I can honestly say that I've never seen a man dunk a basketball by launching off of another player after being passed the ball by a different player who bounced it off his head!!! Until now, that is. And the speed at which they do things — AMAZING!

I would highly recommend attending a Harlem Globetrotters game with your family if they are playing in your area. You can view their 2010 North American tour schedule online at www.HarlemGlobetrotters.com. Tickets are very affordable and the show is perfect for "kids" of all ages!

When you do purchase your Harlem Globetrotters tickets use the code HGMOM to receive $7 off each ticket!!! (Discount is not valid on VIP or courtside tickets, is valid with online ticket purchase only, and is valid until the day before the show.)

I really hope you are able to take advantage of this amazing and affordable family entertainment if the Globetrotters are in your area this year! You won't regret it and your kids are going to LOVE IT!!!

To help bring the fun and excitement of the Harlem Globetrotters to your home we are giving away one Harlem Globetrotter prize package! This package includes a Harlem Globetrotter mini-basketball, authentic Globetrotter wristbands, an autographed Harlem Globetrotter team photo, and a 2010 game program!!!

To enter, simply leave us a comment telling us if you have ever seen the Globetrotters play and, if you have, share with us a fun memory you have from that game! Make sure you leave your comment by Friday, February 5!

As always, you can earn even more entries: subscribe to our Feed, sign up for our 5M4M Newsletter, add our 5M4Giveaways button in your sidebar, write a post and link back to this contest on your blog, and spread the word via Twitter or email! Please see our site's Terms and Conditions of Use for a complete list of our contest and giveaway rules.

And don't forget to check out www.HarlemGlobetrotters.com for information on the team (past and present), game dates, player blogs, and more!

FYI, I did receive complimentary game tickets for my family so that I could personally attend a Harlem Globetrotters game and provide you with an accurate and honest review of the event.

Build-A-Bear Workshop Offers Adventures and Friendship!

Written by Rachel1

Build-A-Bear offers more than just a new favorite friend for your children - it offers an experience that they will not forget!!

We had the opportunity to make Build-A-Bear's newest furry friend, the Be Mine Dalmatian:

The fun adventure starts with picking out their new best friend from a wall full of adorable choices. After that, they get to choose outfits from every choice imaginable, from leather chaps, to Darth Vader, to Disney Princesses.

Ali and her friend AJ chose a Cinderella dress and a wedding dress:

After that, they take their furry friends to the stuffing machine and get to press the buttons to fill their animal with life. They then get to pick out a heart and place it into their friend before they are sewn up. After an air bath and dressing their friends,

they make their birth certificates to officially commemorate their new best friend!

Even the boxes (aka "New Homes") that the animals leave the store in is exciting!

After taking them home, they can also bring their new friend to life online at Build-A-Bearville, to play games and earn points to shop for cool virtual outfits and accessories.

My daughter and her best friend had an amazing time from the beginning to the end! They named their Dalmatians "Cinderella" and "Alice", and are completely in love with their new friends!

Build-A-Bear has graciously provided a coupon for you to get a free sound to put inside your friend!! They have many choices sure to please every age!

Ouch Pouch Will Save The Day

Written by Erica

I admit it, trying to find something in my purse, is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It’s a sad sight. A couple of weeks ago, when my daughter skinned her knee while out on a walk, the poor thing sat by my side with giant crocodile tears, as I frantically searched through my purse for a band-aid. I can’t tell you how many wrappers, receipts and tissues I came across before finally finding a band-aid.

Karen, owner and founder of the Ouch Pouch had that scenario in mind, when she created the perfect pouch for families on the go.

The Ouch Pouch is roomy enough to be filled with antiseptic wipes for cleansing, tweezers for splinters, Neosporin for cuts and scrapes, Band-Aids, headache or allergy medicine, mosquito ointment, small sunscreen and of course, a small lollipop to make the owie go away.

Importantly for children with asthma conditions, it can hold a small inhaler.

It is the perfect size - small enough to easily be tossed into a purse, diaper bag or even your back pocket, yet large enough to stand out amidst the receipts, snacks, wipes and little toys filling up your purse.

Ouch Pouches are handmade (double stitched) using quality fabrics and 16 gauge clear poly vinyl, with a colorful snap closure with 60 different styles to choose from, both sophisticated for mom's and fun styles for children. The Ouch Pouch logo is stitched into the front fold-over flap. They retail for under $6.00. It is a perfect little treat for yourself or a friend.

I was delighted to have Karen send a "pre-filled" Ouch Pouch my way. It did take me a good hour, however, to choose the design I liked the most for my Ouch Pouch. There are so many adorable prints to choose from. Take a look for yourself.

If you stop by Karen's shop for a purchase, please let her know that you found out about Ouch Pouch from 5 Minutes for Mom.

My Ouch Pouch now takes up residence in my messy purse. I do my best to always keep it filled with band-aids, neosporin and a few lollipops. It has been a lifesaver several times now. Karen also sent extra Ouch Pouches my way, which I handed off to a few close friends. They have loved the Ouch Pouch just as much as I have.

The only drawback I can find, is that my oldest daughter now knows exactly where to go in my purse to find a lollipop. Yes, she has been a Dum Dum thief from time to time. But this also means that she knows exactly where to look in my purse for a band-aid. She has been quite the helper, nursing scratches on her younger brother's arm.

We want to make sure one reader is always prepared, so we have one "pre-filled" Ouch Pouch (winners choice) to give away - a $24.95 value.

To enter, please leave a comment below. As always, you can earn even more entries: subscribe to our Feed, sign up for our 5M4M Newsletter, add our 5M4Giveaways button in your sidebar, write a post and link back to this contest on your blog, and spread the word via Twitter or email! Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Winner

Written by CaraC

This week we are closing the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs giveaway.
Please remember to add contests5m4m(AT)gmail(DOT)com to your "Safe Senders" list or address book, to ensure that your notification is not marked as SPAM.

When Flint Lockwood's (Bill Hader) latest contraption accidentally destroys the town square and rockets up into the clouds, he thinks his inventing career is over. Then something amazing happens as delicious cheeseburgers start raining from the sky. His machine actually works!

But when people greedily ask for more and more food, the machine starts to run amok, unleashing spaghetti tornadoes and giant meatballs that threaten the world! Now it's up to Flint, with the help of weather girl Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) and Steve, his talking monkey assistant, to find some way to shut down the machine before the world is covered in super-sized meatballs!

With some of the delightful food that starts falling from the sky, you might find yourself reminded of these lyrics from a fun children's song: "If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops, oh what a rain that would be. I'd stand outside with my mouth open wide."

Comment Number 332 - Marcia S, will receive a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Prize Package!

Connect with Kraft Foods in the kitchen and on the web!

Written by Stacey

We love Kraft foods in our house. Really. Just come over for dinner some night or go through our pantry and you'll see what I mean! And we love Kraft foods here at 5 Minutes for Mom community as well!

Remember this past year when Janice attended the Kraft Mom Blogger Event in Chicago and then enjoyed some delicious food from Kraft Canada with her family? Or when Erica and many of you enjoyed some Bagel-fuls from Kraft and participated in the Bagel-fuls Taste-a-monial contest? Oh yes, we have certainly enjoyed some amazing food from Kraft in 2009!

With the arrival of 2010 and the inevitable list of New Year's resolutions staring me in the face, I am looking to Kraft for some serious help this year. One of my biggest resolutions for 2010 is to get my family to eat healthier and get more variety in our diets, while still staying within our budget.

Kraft has recently re-launched their Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/KraftFoods) and The Kraft Foods Channel on YouTube (www.youtube.com/KraftFoods) to be better help people like me this year! Both sites feature delicious recipes and seasonal tips, as well as a forum where you can exchange recipe ideas and tips with other readers.

I absolutely love the how-to videos on the Kraft Food Channel because I actually get to see what it is I'm supposed to be doing and how each step should look, as well as get little tips along the way. Right now I'm drooling over the Chocolate Orange Layer Cake!

The Kraft Foods Facebook fan page has also been very helpful because, not only do I get to search through some amazing recipes, but I am able to chat with other moms to see what recipes their families enjoyed and how they have tweaked different recipes (for instance, add some finely chopped broccoli to the Home-Baked Macaroni & Cheese for some added veggies).

You can also check out Kraft on Twitter (@KraftFoods) and receive tweets with popular recipes from the Kraft Kitchens!

Ok, all this talk about Kraft, Chocolate Orange Layer Cake, and Home-Baked Macaroni & Cheese is making me hungry! I'm heading over to the Kraft Facebook page to find some dinner ideas!

In addition to re-launching these amazing Kraft Food sites and resources, Kraft has generously provided us with two AMAZING gift baskets to giveaway to TWO lucky readers. These baskets are packed full of delicious Kraft foods (like the NEW Velveeta Rotini and Cheese Whole Grain, Planters nuts, Baker's semi-sweet chocolate, and other foods from Stove Top, Honey Maid, Oreo, Maxwell House, and Ritz), a Zak Designs garlic peeler, an HA Mack olivewood mixing spoon, and 4 tasty holiday recipes from the Kraft Food Kitchens. Each basket is valued at $65!!!

For a chance to win one of these Kraft Foods gift baskets, simply head over to the Kraft Foods Facebook page or the Kraft Foods Channel on YouTube and take a look around. Come back here and leave us a comment telling us what you think, a recipe you found and are excited to try, or something you'd like to see added to either of these pages.

This giveaway is open to US and Canadian shipping addresses and ends Friday, January 29. Our two winners will be announced Saturday, January 30.

The gift baskets being given away are being provided by Kraft. We did not, however, receive any other incentives from Kraft Foods for writing this post and all opinions stated are the writer's personal opinions.

It's Raining Cheeseburgers

Written by Erica

It's finally here! Tomorrow is the release date for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on Blu-ray and DVD. It's a great addition to your home movie library, perfect for family movie nights and a great purchase to make with the gift cards you or your children received over the holidays.

Of course my favorite verse in that song has to do with the sunbeams being bubblegum and ice cream, which is why I love this clip from the movie:

Do you want to see some more? You can check out the first six minutes of the movie at Yahoo! Kids.

To celebrate the release of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Sony has a special sweepstakes that you can enter right now. The grand prize is a trip for a family of four (4) to winner's choice of any Delta Vacations destination within the contiguous Unites States (excluding Hawaii and Alaska). Head over here to enter.

But that's not all, we also have a little something for one lucky reader. Our prize package consists of one rat-bird stuffed animal and a copy of the book, "The Art and Making of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Together the package is a $60 value.

To enter please leave a comment below.

This giveaway is open to US and Canadian shipping addresses and will close on Friday, January 15th. We will announce our winner on Saturday, January 16th.

Finally for some additional fun, be sure to check out the zany “Cloudy Shake” iPhone application which will let you choose four ingredients and then blend them together by gently shaking your phone. If you are brave enough, tilt the phone to "drink" your shake".

Sony provided me with a review copy of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on DVD. They are also providing the prizing for this giveaway.
